Amoda Tea: May Tea Tasting Box Review

Happy Victoria Day Lovelies! In celebration (I love celebrating, can't you tell?) I would like to share with you a new Tea Tasting Service based right out of Canada. The box is called Amoda Tea and is $15/month or $18/month is you live in the US. Shipping is also included in this price. You receive three teas to try out each month. Not too shabby. Today, I'll be sharing the May Tea Tasting Box. The box it came in pictured above is quite smaller and more flat than I expected. I find this a great thing because it definitely cuts down on waste and is recyclable.

The presentation is quite elegant. I like that everything has been carefully placed and wrapped too. Ech box also contains a newsletter with the origins of the teas, where to find them, and how they came to discover this tea.

Here are the three teas for tasting this month. Each package has tasting notes and brew instructions right on the bag. Also, the bags have a clear backside so you can look right at them. (see pic below) From left to right:

Lord Petersham by the Devotea: a black tea.

Island Coconut by SpireTea: a green tea.

Rooibos Chocolate by Forsman Tea: a rooibos tea

Also included was an extra treat: Caramels infused with Citrus Earl Grey tea by Bad Girl Chocolates. Yum!

I like that you get the three different kinds of tea in one month. After all variety is the spice of life! I definitely like this box and its definitely one I am considering signing up for. You can check them out here.

I was sent this box for review. The thoughts and opinons are mine own. 'Mine own.' I've always wanted to use that phrase :)

  1. How was the tea itself? Did you brew any yet? I love the idea of a tea box and review lots of tea on my blog but $15 for 60g is quite expensive so probably would just prefer to pick out my own tea for that price, unless there's something special about this tea.

  5. Thanks for the great review. We're looking forward to hearing your thoughts once you've tasted the teas :)

Eni - I wanted to let you know that we do not carry any teas that have artificial flavourings, but we make sure they are just as flavourful regardless.

Zoe - You're right, $15 for 60g of tea is expensive when you look at it that way. We've found many tea shops won't let you purchase less than 50 g of a tea, so you're often stuck with quite a bit of one tea that you may or may not end up liking. With Amoda you can try a smaller size to see if you like that variety, flavour or type. Keep in mind that $15 includes the shipping too And it's always fun to get mail :)

    1. That totally makes sense Tegan! I do love my mail and I have bought 50g of tea before and not liked it. I like the variety in your boxes (green, black and rooibos) and that they don't have artificial flavours. A few months would also make a good gift for a tea-loving friend. Thanks for the response!
